What this site knows about you
Short version: nothing. chip-matrix is a non-commercial personal project with no accounts, no cookies and no analytics — there is no business model that would benefit from tracking you. The longer version below also covers the personal data it displays — author names and affiliations — because that is the part that actually affects people.
We collect nothing from you
- No cookies or local storage. Nothing is written to your browser.
- No analytics or tracking. There is no Google Analytics, no pixel, no session recorder, no A/B tooling.
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign in to, so there is no profile to build.
- No third-party requests from your browser. Fonts are served from this site rather than a font CDN, so loading a page contacts only this origin. The site’s only production dependencies are React and Next.js.
Your search terms travel in the URL and are sent to this site’s own API to run the query. They are not stored, sold, or shared.
The one thing that is recorded
Like any web server, the host records ordinary request logs — timestamp, path, IP address, browser user-agent — so the service can be operated and debugged. These are not used to profile visitors, not linked to anything else, and not shared with third parties.
Personal data this site displays
This is the part a privacy notice usually skips. chip-matrix indexes scholarly metadata, and that metadata is about people:
- Author names — 74,125 of them.
- ORCID iDs, where the source provides one.
- Affiliation strings exactly as printed on the paper.
- Institutions and countries — 2,795 institutions.
All of it comes from two open sources: Crossref (open metadata) and OpenAlex (released under CC0). Nothing is inferred, enriched, or combined with any other source about an individual. There are no author biographies, contact details, or citation-based rankings of people. Paper full text is never stored — those are outbound DOI links to the publisher. If something about you is wrong
This site mirrors its sources, so a change made only here would be overwritten the next time the record is refreshed. The durable fix is upstream:
- Your ORCID record — orcid.org
- Author or affiliation data — OpenAlex
- The publication record itself — the publisher (IEEE) or Crossref
You can also ask us directly. We will correct or remove the entry here and keep a note so a later refresh does not silently undo it.
Links to other sites
Opening a DOI, open-access, or ORCID link takes you to a third party — IEEE Xplore, OpenAlex, ORCID, or another publisher. Once you are there, their privacy policy applies, not this one.
